No One Cares about MMM... STILL!

Look guys, give it up. Sure, sure, we know that the JP's love MMM, but us over here on this side of the pacific, we just can't be bothered. It's for shut-in's and soloers. I knew this was coming. They even said they were expanding it again in at VanaFest, so it was a surprise. Then again, everyone knows that death is coming inevitably, but everyone just ignores it because it sucks. I ignore MMM for the same reason. MMM update days are like eating your vegetables so your parents would let you have ice cream. I know that some really amazing stuff is coming in this update, but I also know that the JP's and shut-in's need their MMM.

It doesn't mean that I don't want them to go die in a fire any less.

Ok, I sound like a broken record on MMM? Sure, I do, but I do have a new concern about MMM. What if they turn MMM into a real event? What if they give it drops for jobs that I actually care about? Shudder to think.

The update notes today are not encouraging for me. There are new mobs, hard mobs that are going to be available in the randomness of MMM. New mobs that drop new loot. Hopefully it will be just like the loot from the past MMM updates. Good for jobs like BLU and PUP, but nothing that any real job is going to care about. But I do have a fear that at some point SE is going to add something to MMM and I am going to have to do the event. Collecting marbles or something, maps and map pieces, and now getting my membership card. I swear that MMM has to be the most convoluted contraption ever created in the evil minds at SE.

There are already too many events in FFXI, please for the love of god, don't make me do MMM. I would rather level BLU. Shudder to think.

Morning in Vana'diel: My New Disciple: EvilPaul.

Morning in Vana'diel is your daily dose of FFXI and all things Vana'diel. Give us your thoughts on the interesting topics of the day! Hey, you stupid Moblin's, how about you shove that fishing pole right up your ass!
Yes, fishing will make Moblin Maze Mongers much more exciting. Wait, no, I lied. It will mean that MMM will be even more tedious than it already is. But wait, I don't do MMM because I am sane and would like to stay that way.

SE has recently announced that they are adding some new fishing thing to MMM. Some kind of tag or chit or rune or something that NO ONE FREAKING CARES ABOUT! If you are some how interested in MMM you can check out the information at the POL website.

SE's recent actions seem to be aimed at combining the most boring things possible. Sometimes I wonder if I am alone in these feelings. If I am the kid standing in the corner being ignored by all the hot chicks at the dance. If I am just afloat on a raft in the middle of the ocean and everyone is just banging hot chicks.

I am not alone! I have discovered an untapped source of anti-MMM-ism. If we wander over to the BG forums we will see that I have a brand new disciple! EvilPaul has also declared his utter hatred for this stupid, stupid event. MMM is this expansion's NPC's and Pankration. Unless as tits on a boar, but loved by the masses. I just don't get you people. At least EvilPaul understands me! He hates you guys too!

Oh, and just as a plug for my new disciple go check out The Pie Blog™.

Our Comprehensive Guide to the July 2009 Update.

The July 2009 Update is just around the corner so we have put together this guide to all the information we have about the coming update, including information about missions, job changes, events, equipment and even the Moogle Kupo d'Etat scenario! Stay tuned for any new information!

The July 2009 Update for FFXI is looking to be a decently balanced update with additional zones that we have been promised for a while. The much anticipated Campaign body pieces will become available after getting the new Campaign ranks. The two new zones - Beaucidine and Xarcabard - look to be very Campaign oriented and if the development team fulfills their promise, they will be oriented to high-level players. The "Union" system is being introduced to Campaign and the rewards look to be potentially pretty damn sweet. New Wings missions are being added, but it doesn't look to be too many. Moblin Maze Mongers is getting an NPC-style addition. Finally, there are currently unannounced Job Adjustments.

Our complete and comprehensive coverage of the July Update is listed after the break!

POL News: Moblins Take Up Heart Surgery

Another day, another MMM update note that most people don't care about. Seriously, MMM update notes are turning into Event update notes for me. They probably require a lot of the development team's time and they contain almost nothing of interest to the greater number of players. So it is basically time wasted by the development team, that could be spent on other things like say giving ZNM gear unique models or at least recolored ones from 2004.

Enough of the MMM hate, lets get to the interesting bits. It looks like you will be able to have a Moblin buddy in much the same way that you have an NPC buddy. Don't get me started on how little interest I have in the NPC buddies. A new Maze Voucher is being added that will set up the Moblin buddy for you. Then you will need to take him through a maze with mobs that you will kill and help to level up your Moblin buddy. Your Moblin buddy will start off as a middle of the road job then after a while you will be able to pick what kind of specific job you want it to take up, tank, ranger or caster. Sounds like they kinda slapped the NPC and Puppetmaster AI onto this Moblin.

I guess there is some redeeming quality here because the rewards are Augmented items which could be very good, but it's hard to predict at this point.

Well, I guess that will be of interest to a ton of players because I know that they love their NPC's and they love doing MMM. For me, I guess I will be waiting until next week for more update notes. Check below the break to see the full update notes and don't forget to leave a comment and tell us what you think of MMM and this new upgrade!

Here are the full update notes from the POL website. I am sure that this will not be as bad as I make it out to be, and for those that love doing MMM this is probably pretty awesome. And for the rest of us, it's still early so we have a while to go before SE starts dropping the juicy update notes for the rest of us.

Not content to rest on their laurels as the foremost—and only—purveyors of custom dungeons in Vana'diel, the Moblin Maze Mongers have been working overtime on their latest Maze Voucher that will usher in a whole new subterranean adventure in the upcoming version update!

My Gobbie and I

With the new Maze Voucher, players will be able to participate in a new challenge in which they and a Goblin companion must maneuver their way through a maze teeming with fiendish foes. In order for your operation to be deemed a success, your comrade must survive the journey intact.

The Power of Gob

Have no fear, for this Goblin is no defenseless dunce! By defeating enemies that lurk in the maze, your companion will gain strength and grow into a formidable ally. Defend him from harm, but take care not to be overprotective—slay too many foes yourself, and you will find your Gobbie's growth as an adventurer stunted.

Gob of All Trades

Your Goblin companion will begin the quest with the "All-Rounder" job—well-balanced in a variety of skills, but master of none. By reaching Level 5 and fulfilling certain conditions, he will be eligible to switch to a more specialized position.

The career choices available to your Gobbie include the close-combat specialist "Walloper," the ranged attack marksman "Barrager," and the magic-wielding "Spellslinger." Each specialized job also comes with unique abilities, which your Goblin will unleash when the requisite conditions are met.

If you and your Goblin apprentice succeed in your mission, you can expect a whole slew of lavish rewards, including MMM's inaugural augmented items, special maze runes to customize your Gobbie's abilities, and much, much more!
