The forgotten beauty of the Tavnazian Archipelago was hidden for over twenty years due to the Crystal War and the catastrophe in Tavnazia. That beauty was once again revealed after the introduction to the Chains of Promathia. There are wonders beyond the normal world of Vana'diel here, including Riverne Site and the cliff overhanging old Tavnazia. The most wondrous though has to be the waterfall in the far north of Misareaux Coast.
This night time shot was submitted by Stardust of Odin (my home server too!) and does a wonderful job of capturing all the beauty in the shot. I absolutely love these zones. The music, the land, even the special touches like the dragons flying around all brought this amazing zone together. It also had an eery feeling, not inspiring dread, but more inexplicable sadness. You could tell by the ambiance here that even though now complacent and serene that there once had been a terrible tragedy in this place. The waterfall does much to capture this feeling. At the same time inspiring and uneasy, as if the water cascading down were the tears of the casualties of other's horrible decisions.

Beholder's Eye: Castle Oztroja
Welcome to Beholder’s Eye, a column dedicated to the beautiful vistas and interesting events in FFXI. This column brings us pictures from all over Vana’diel, from the people of Vana’diel. From the most mundane spots to the most inaccessible places, there will be pictures of it all. If you have a great picture then send it to us and we will use it!
If you travel through the savanna lands of Meriphataud Mountains, through the dust filled landscape of chasms, gullys and hidden dips till you reach the end of Drogaroga's Spine far to the east, rising up from the mountain wall is the yawning maw and spires of the Yagudo stronghold in Vana'diel.
Of the strongholds, perhaps one of the more sophisticated constructions accessible to the battle-hardened traveller than the more elusive and secretive world of the Moblins, this vast fortress with its sprawling network of corridors, secret contraptions and trapdoors for the unwary is as much a temple of worship designed to protect the holiest of the Yagudo prophets deep in the core of the castle, as it is a rallying symbol of Yagudo might in Vana'diel.
A race deeply motivated by religion and adhering to a strict social hierarchy within its avian ranks, these warlike creatures have been know to pop up as both adversary and ally in the unlikeliest of places, intelligent and territorial, only the most foolish of adventurers would venture into their nest unprepared.

Beholder's Eye: Parradamo Tor in the Morning.
Today’s picture is of the Parradamo Tor, the great hill that rises in eastern Attohwa Chasm. It is so imposing that it can be seen as soon as you leave the caves around the Chasm itself. In the morning light of Vana’diel it is a sight to be seen, surrounded at its base with many different crags and rock formations spilling and spouting miasma to block your way to the base. Climbing the Tor is a requirement for anyone that wants to do the CoP missions and it can be a pain for the inexperienced or the unskilled climbers. But once you reach the top you can witness some of the great views of the zone and even peer into the Cradle of Rebirth at the top.
