They promised this, it definately took a while to delivery, but for those amongst us who are stat hungry for all that goes on in the world of Final Fantasy, SE have finally released the Server wide 9th Vana'diel Census that accompanies the Moogle Adventure Appreciation week census for your own personal delectation and delight. I personally take a great delight in pouring over these stats, I do find it quite interesting to see which races are the most popular, or what the log on trends are. Take a gander or pass it by, but in the end you know your a stat geek, or you wouldn't be playing FFXI ^.^ Its all about the stats.

The economic section is rather interesting...
Also, I wish they'd just flat out say how many unique subscriptions there are. Unless I missed it somewhere, they haven't been too forthcoming with that information...
They have ALWAYS been cagey about that figure. I don't know why, lol.
I really enjoyed the Merit breakdown. Some were obvious (like Lightning and Ice potency for BLM) but it was interesting to see how some other jobs I don't know as well were spending merits.
Yeah. That Merit breakdown is kind of interesting to see. It's funny how some of the stats REALLY jump out at you. (Evasion, Crit Hit Rate, etc...)
Example 1: SAM Group 1
over half of the merits for SAM group 1 are put into Store TP. and 50% of those people all have it capped at 5.
(yeah, that one was obviously gonna happen, but look at other jobs that may not be as well-known... at least to my n00bness.)
Example 2: NIN Group 1
basically all merits are dumped into Subtle Blow with maybe a splattering of "eh, maybe i'll put 1 merit into this or that", but it's obvious that this is kinda the only worthwhile NIN merit. lol
Compare those high-value merits with other ones that are just obtained seemingly strictly for access to additional functionality...
Example 3: SMN Group 2
Looks like everyone just dumps 1 merit into each category and that's it... with a slight tilt towards Wind Blade (cuz people use Garuda more often?) and Heavenly Strike (because you can MB on a Darkness SC??)
good stuff.
You guys see that thin dark blue line on Iron Will for Paladin merits? No? Oh that's because I'm the only guy who took it to 5 lol.
Qtipus/Omoikitte:
You want to know why they won't?
Because it'll show that they aren't doing as well as they claim.
Which see the massive amounts of RMT tell spam, plus the fact that, if we are to believe their numbers, almost 1.4 million characters are level 1 -- either new, mules, or (more likely) RMT.
I don't really care if they're doing "well" or not. A while back, they released some information about the population hitting 2 million individual characters. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a good portion of those are going to be level 1 mules.
They wouldn't outright lie about that figure and using that as a basis, that would mean 200,000 accounts would need an average of 10 characters ea. or 400,000 accounts would need an average of 5 characters ea. Across the 3 accounts I have, none of them have 5 characters on them and I'm probably the 'average' for a normal account holder.
Given that, in previous census totals, they've told us X number of accounts. I think the two years prior to this were showing 500k accounts each year. Using that math from the previous paragraph...draw your own conclusions about how they're doing. Do you own 2, 5 or 10 mules on ONE account?
That's the information I'm interested in most.
Really gets tiresome hearing/seeing the "FFXI is dying" rhetoric. It's flatlined, which is a perfectly natural progression in any MMO. Odds are, the population of this game will stay around it's current levels for a few more years to come. If EQ isn't fkn dead yet, nothing's going to kill this game.
Also, I want to know who the fucktard is that put merits into Ancient Circle...
LOL re: Ancient Circle... I KNOW RIGHT?! I was looking at it thinking... enough people have merited this for it to actually have a graphical representation ... Why?
