Morning in Vana'diel is your daily dose of FFXI and all things Vana'diel. Give us your thoughts on the interesting topics of the day! This morning (afternoon) I wonder what it is exactly that you want out of me.
Ok, so this blog thing is getting rolling. You are going to see the columnist posting their own blog posts here, as Omoikitte has already done. You will see some continued format changes as we prepare for the launch of the new site. The ultimate question I have thought is what do you want out of this site? Do you like it the way that it is right now? Is there anything that is missing from the site that you think is needed? I have had some thoughts and I will lay them out for you, then I will ask you a few questions and see what you have to say.
Thought #1: Create a weekly column that answers your questions about FFXI, whether in-game related, lore-based, historical or otherwise.
Thought #2: Job-specific columns, or maybe job-type specific columns that will include tips, strategies, gear and insight.
Thought #3: Information from various FFXI forums and other blogs, so that you don't have to deal with sorting through forum drama or WoW posts in FFXI blogs.
Does that sound good? Is that something you would like to see? How would you like to see the columns here formatted and stored? Do you like post-tagging? Do you prefer separate pages for each column? Being able to see a list of each column's archive somewhere (and if needed a sentence or two on what it's about) would be good.
If he has spare time, Septimus should do the Q&A column. :)
If we can find someone who likes to post daily updates of their own exploits (such as Halifirien, http://ffxi.mysterysteps.com/ ) and have them do one post a day detailing a quest, that would last for over 500 days of content.
Make it look nicer. Make it obvious who is writing the post.
Paul: That is a priority and should be up by this week.
Araelus: I asked Sept, but he didn't seem interested in a full column, and I send him the idea of a Q&A column this week.
Anon: *hangs head in shame* Yes, I know, and we are working on a whole new site to make it look better. I am going to change the format of posts to make it obvious who is writing it tomorrow!
